Flats require a
waterproof diaper cover and are a one size fits all diaper that requires folding to properly fit baby. Wrap the diaper around the baby (
check out this Intro to Flats post by Dirty Diaper Laundry for folding instructions) & fasten with a
Snappi, or simply pad fold and lay inside a snug fitting
cover. You can also use pad folded flats as an insert for your pocket diapers - you will virtually never have stink issues with them and because they are only one layer thick they dry incredibly fast, even on the clothesline! If you have a little bit of patience and a pioneering spirit, using flats is by far the least expensive way to cloth diaper your baby.
These diapers also multi task to make great dish towels, cleanups, burp cloths , lap pads, changing pads, bibs, wash cloths and baby wipers, not to mention optical cleaning cloths, CD & record cleaning cloths and for shoe shine polishing rags!
